Jesse mellon

Creative director and brand designer with 20+ years of experience building identity systems and visual communications for biotech, technology, and innovation-led companies

I’m Jesse Mellon — a designer by nature, and a creative director by experience. Over the course of my career, I’ve led brand, web, and visual communication across life sciences, big data, entertainment, and consumer technology, helping organizations turn complex ideas into clear, credible, and cohesive brand experiences.

My work spans identity systems, websites, campaigns, presentations, packaging, print collateral, trade shows, photography, and product-related communications. I’m especially drawn to environments where strategy and craft need to work together — where a brand has to do more than look good, and instead has to explain, persuade, scale, and stay consistent across every touchpoint.

In recent years, I’ve led creative and brand initiatives for companies including Quantum-Si, PacBio, Codex DNA, and LeadCrunch, with a focus on rebrands, brand systems, and the tools teams need to apply them well. At PacBio, I led the company’s 2022 rebrand and created a 40-page visual and editorial style guide used by employees, partners, distributors, and contractors. At Quantum-Si, I directed creative across brand, web, product launches, social, packaging, presentations, video, photography, and broader marketing communications.

Earlier in my career, I built work across agency and in-house settings for companies and clients including Sony, MP3.com, Vivendi, Teradata, Eventful, and others. That mix of experience taught me how to move between concept and execution, lead teams, collaborate with executives and cross-functional partners, and build systems that hold up in the real world.

I still think like a designer first: through color, typography, composition, usability, and the small structural decisions that shape how people experience a brand. Whether I’m leading a rebrand, refining a visual system, or building a presentation, website, or campaign, my goal is the same: to make the work clearer, stronger, and more meaningful.
